2012-09-13 11:49 来源:未知 作者:admin

Element: School of Biomolecular and Physical Sciences
Work type: Fixed term (2 years)

Overview:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow Grade 1 for experiments in ion-trap quantum communication. The primary goal of the project is to create parallel ion-photon entanglement channels using integrated optics and microfabricated traps. We will also investigate novel quantum information protocols and quantum optics phenomena based on our recent work with absorption imaging of single ions [Nature Commun. 3, 933 (2012)].

This is a fixed term (2 years), full time position based at the Nathan campus, Queensland, Australia.

The role:
The primary role of the Research Fellow is to work on experiments related to the project. The appointee should also contribute ideas for improving the project and the overall experiment, help supervise Research Higher Degree (RHD) students, and communicate project results through journal publications and presentations at international conferences.

The person:
The ideal candidate will have, or be about to complete, a PhD in ultracold ion/atom physics or quantum optics. Experience with frequency-stable diode lasers and nonlinear optics will be helpful. The position will be available from November 2012, and applicants available to start near that time are preferred.

Salary range:
Research Fellow, Grade 1: AUD $61,914 – $72,831 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: AUD $72,440 – $85,213 per annum.
