The Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HLD) at the HZDR*, a world-leading institution in high magnetic field research and technology, invites applications for a

postdoctoral research associate/scientist position
effective January 2012. This is a three-year position with the possibility of further extension. The salary is according to German Public Service classification (TVöD).

A PhD in physics is required, while experience in high magnetic field and/or low-temperature measurements is desirable. The successful candidate will pursue vigorous research in a newly established and still growing international user facility. Candidates with previous achievements in the research of strongly correlated electron systems, i.e. the focus of the in-house research program of the HLD, are particularly invited to apply. As part of our highly motivated team, the candidate will also be involved in the user program at the HLD which provides access to pulsed magnetic fields up to 91 Tesla and beyond. As a world-unique opportunity, infrared spectroscopy in the wavelength range between 4 and 250 µm is possible in highest pulsed magnetic fields besides a wide range of other experimental methods at the HLD.
