Job description

Postdocs in Nonlinear NANO-Mechanics
Positions are available for qualified candidates interested in a groundbreaking interdisciplinary domain of nonlinear dynamics, stability, and control of Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems [NEMS] operating in ultra-high vacuum where thermo-viscoelastic material properties govern system response.
Specific topics include:
(i) complexity and spatio-temporal chaos in nonlinear nano-resonator arrays,
(ii) nonlinear interactions in Magnetic Resonance Force Microscopy [MRFM].
This theoretical program in the Nonlinear and Chaotic Dynamical Systems Group incorporates both analytical multiple-scale asymptotics and numerical bifurcation analysis for the weakly and strongly nonlinear regimes, respectively.
The candidate must have a PhD (obtained within the last 3 years) in any Engineering, Physics, or Applied Math programs. A strong background in mathematical physics OR engineering mechanics is recommended.
