Job Description
The Duke Human Vaccine Institute, occupying a place of national and international leadership in the fight against major infectious diseases, is currently recruiting for a Postdoctoral Associate. This role will investigate the mechanisms of mycobacterium infection induced autophagy. As a ubiquitous cellular pathway essential for degrading and recycling proteins and organelles, autophagy has been implicated in a broad spectrum of human diseases, and more recently in host-pathogen interactions. The research will focus on: i) molecular mechanisms of infection-induced autophagy, and ii) the effects of autophagic degradation of mycobacteria on innate and adaptive immunity. The successful candidate is expected to be knowledgeable of standard molecular, cellular biology, and immunology techniques. The applicant must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent. Previous research experience involving autophagy is a plus. Only candidates who have received their PhD or equivalent within the last 12 months will be considered.
