DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT

ACADEMIC-RELATED RESEARCH STAFF GRADE 7:
Salary: £29,099 – £35,788

We are seeking a highly motivated post doctoral scientist with a background in organic chemistry and / or material sciences to lead on the development of an exciting new approach to molecular imaging. The major focus of this post will be to work as part of multidisciplinary laboratories that are dedicated to the development and application of molecular imaging agents for the characterisation of a range of diseases, including atherosclerosis, inflammation and some cancers.

You must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, with experience of organic chemistry and chemical syntheses. Some prior experience working with biological systems would be an advantage, but is not essential. You should be able to work independently and contribute conceptually to the overall research programme of the group.

You will work under the overall supervision of Professor Robin Choudhury who works on novel approaches to molecular imaging. You will be based in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine’s laboratories at the West Wing of the John Radcliffe Hospital and for part of the work in the laboratory of Professor Ben Davis in Chemistry.

The post is funded from 1st October 2011 for 3 years in the first instance (possibly renewable for two further years subject to funding).
