job description

Postdoctoral Scientist
-—————————-
The group of Prof. Manolis Pasparakis at the Institute for Genetics of the University of Cologne is recruiting

a postdoctoral scientist
(EG 13 TV-L), 39.83 working hours per week

We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious Ph.D. or M.D. and Ph.D. scientist with documented research experience and strong background in one or more of the following fields: mouse models of inflammatory diseases and cancer, immunology, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, modern mouse genetics, and advanced light microscopy.

The successful candidate will join a multi-national research team studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which intracellular signalling pathways activated downstream of cytokine receptors and Toll-like receptors control innate immune responses and the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases and cancer.
The group applies ‘state of the art’ mouse genetics to address these biological questions in vivo (Nature 2011, DOI:10.1038/nature10273; J Clin Invest. 2011 Jul 1;121(7):2781-93; Nat Immunol 2008, 9: 1037-1046; Cell Metab 2008, 8: 372-383; Nature 2007, 446: 557-561; Cancer Cell 2007, 11: 119-132; Nat Cell Biol 2007, 9: 461-469; Nat Immunol 2006, 7: 954-961; Nature 2002, 417: 861-866).

The University of Cologne is an equal-opportunity employer and especially encourages women to apply. Applications from handicapped persons will be favoured when all other qualifications are equal.

The position will be initially available for 2 years with the possibility of further extension. Starting time will be October 2011 or later. Interested applicants should submit a CV, a brief statement of research interests and experience and contact information (Email address and phone number) of three references by September 10th, 2011 to:
