Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position performing research in the field of theoretical physics of nanostructures and nanocrystals. This position will be focused on the research on chiral metamaterials for sensing of biomolecules. The research group led by Alexander Govorov is working on optical properties of nanostructures and nanomaterials with emphasis on plasmonic nanstructures, hybrid nanoscale systems, quantum effects in plasmonic and excitonic systems, bio-inspired nanostructures, etc. There will be opportunities to interact with experimentalists. Candidates should be highly motivated and have a strong background in theoretical condensed matter physics, computational physics and in the physics of nanostructures. A commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds is required. The position is for one year.
