Research Fellow Position (Post-doctoral Grade) in Cell Cycle
Regulation in Urochordates
University of Bergen
Bergen, Norway
About project/work tasks:
The project will be conducted at the Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology (Bergen, Norway) in the group “Chromatin and Cell Cycle Dynamics in Urochordates” of Prof. Eric Thompson. The successful candidate will use molecular, embryological and advanced microscopy tools to understand the functions of duplicated INCENP paralogs in regulating M-phase events and exploring possible functional promiscuity in complexes with Aurora A as well as Aurora B kinases.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
The applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent degree or must have submitted his/her doctoral thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded;
Strong motivation to perform research at an internationally competitive level;
Solid experience in microinjection of both embryos and ovaries;
Skills in molecular cloning and gene knockdown/knockout approaches;
A sound theoretical knowledge of cell cycle regulation, and particularly, mechanisms controlling chromosome segregation is highly preferred;
Ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with others in a structured manner;
Proficiency in both written and oral English.
