Overview Of Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Post-Doc Scientist to join a project funded through the International Wheat Yield Partnership (IWYP) which will employ novel chemical technology in wheat yield improvement.

The project will screen wide-ranging wheat germplasm withT6P precursor to assess for genetic variation in source (photosynthesis) and sink processes (grain number and size) and synchronisation of source and sink. Based at Rothamsted the role will involve travel to field trial sites at CIMMYT, Mexico in each of the 3 years to perform physiological analysis after T6Pspray. Subsequent genetic analysis will be performed including GWAS, QTL, gene expression andSNP marker discovery.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular plant/crop physiology or a degree in biological /agricultural science. Knowledge of GWAS, QTL and SNP marker discovery is essential, together with interest in resource use efficiency source-sink, sugar metabolism and integration of plant processes.

The ideal candidate will be solution oriented, with energy and drive to excel in output and quality of data. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This is a full-time, 3 year fixed term appointment.
