Three postdoc positions are available immediately in the laboratory of  Dr. Li, Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The purposes of these positions are to train independent investigators and to engage in NIH-funded projects whose goals are to: (1) define molecularly how TGFbeta signaling is controlled to impact on regulatory T cell biology and cancer immunotherapy; (2) understand the roles of platelets in cancer immune surveillance and develop novel combination therapy based on the mechanistic understandings; (3) disentangle the cross-talk among unfolded protein responses, microbiome, mucosal immunology and colon cancer.

Dr. Li’s laboratory resides in the NCI-designated Hollings Cancer Center, which provides state of the art laboratory spaces as well as cutting-edge research core facilities including flow cytometry, mass cytometry, a cellular therapy facility, genomics, proteomics, multi-photon imaging, gene targeting/knockout and a translational research facility. Rich intellectual environment is ensured by more than twenty immunologists perusing their groundbreaking research in the immediate vicinity on immune tolerance, inflammation, transplantation immunology as well as cancer immunotherapy  which is also supported by a new 5-year T32 training grant from NIAID.

Successful candidates should hold a MD, PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent with a proven track record of scientific productivity in relevant topics indicated by first author publications of original research papers. Candidates with strong background with bioinformatics are also encouraged to apply.
