The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes nine high-performing sites in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten.
Description: The laboratory of Aging and Neurodegeneration has two main focuses: 1) the molecular mechanisms underlying age-related brain pathologies; 2) the metabolic remodeling in animals carrying mitochondrial deficiency. As animal models, we use the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and a series of transgenic mice recently developed.
Qualification: We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in our group. The successful candidate will work mainly with models of mitochondrial deficiency. To develop this project, he/she will employ several experimental approaches. Experience with the genetic of C. elegans, gene expression analysis and imaging of mitochondrial dynamics is a plus. The position involves also molecular biology and basic cellular biology.
Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TvöD). The job location is Bonn.
