The opportunity exists for a Post-doctoral Researcher to join the Molecular Diagnostics Program at Children’s Cancer Institute Australia. The successful candidate will undertake research focused on development and characterization of novel inhibitors for treatment of infant leukaemia. This is a particularly aggressive form of acute leukaemia which is usually driven by epigenetic dysregulation due to chromosomal translocation involving the gene encoding the MLL histone methyltransferase.
The successful candidate will have a PhD qualification in cancer biology or medical science and considerable experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular and cellular biology. Candidates with experience in drug discovery, leukaemia biology or epigenetics technologies would be particularly suitable.
Candidates should have a high level of competence in all aspects of experimental work, good organizational skills and have the ability to work both independently and in a team situation as required. A high-level of motivation, reliability and research productivity are critical attributes. The individual will be expected to make a significant contribution to the intellectual output of the Program through experimental design, publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
