比利时鲁汶大学内皮细胞生物学研究所博士后职位

A postdoctoral position in the context of a European Project ‘HeMiBio’ (Hepatic Microfluidic Bioreactor) and an Inter-University Attraction Poles (IUAP) project ‘DevRepair’ is available in the Endothelial Cell Biology Research Unit, headed by Prof. Dr. Aernout Luttun, at the Center for Molecular and Vascular Biology, KULeuven, Belgium.

Description

The central theme of the project is related to endothelial heterogeneity. All organs, with a few exceptions, contain a blood vessel network that is adapted to fulfill the needs of the tissue it resides in. The endothelial cells lining the inside of these vessels have therefore acquired specific molecular, morphologic and functional characteristics. Unraveling the mechanisms that determine these organ-specific endothelial characteristics offers the possibility to generate specific subsets of endothelial cells that can be applied for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. We recently have identified unique endothelial signatures from different organs, including the heart and the liver. The first aim of this project is to generate organ-specific endothelial cells from stem/progenitor cells that can be used for treating rodents with vascular bed-specific disease, e.g. ischemic heart disease or toxin-induced liver disease, or, in case of liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, to seed them in bioreactors for toxicological testing. The second aim is to study in more detail, using transgenic mice, the role of a transcription factor expressed in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells during hepatic vascular development and after birth during liver injury.
